Ever see a stat line that makes you “smh?” Those stats that make you do a double take and go “wait how is that even possible?” Let me share one with you. This Canadian Little League pitcher Matt Wilkinson took the hill on Friday in Williamsport, and this is what his stat line looks like:
I already double checked and there is no typo. He ACTUALLY had 16 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. (5 innings) x (3 outs/inning) = 15 outs. So how do you end up with 16 strike outs with only 15 outs pitched? I really don’t know why I’m asking, this is baseballfam.com not some local news blog, but I thought I should point out the extra strike out came on a dropped third strike in which the runner reached base. The worst part of this line is that it doesn’t include a W. THEY LOST! 1-0 on a walk off single (he only went 5). Now if it weren’t for these pussified pitch count rules… just kidding.
Kid looks like a mini Canadian David Wells which should also be pointed out… I’d watch him pitch again
