SURPRISE, Ariz. — Left-hander Brian Flynn, a candidate to possibly make the Royals’ bullpen, will miss at least eight weeks after sustaining a broken rib while falling through the roof of a barn at his home.
Royals manager Ned Yost confirmed the injury after Tuesday’s workout. Flynn, 26, was doing some work at his home in McAlester, Okla., when the accident occurred.
“He was working on his barn and fell through the roof,” Yost said. “So he took a pretty good tumble, knocked himself out. He’s going to be eight weeks behind everyone else.”
Well add this one to the list of bizarre injuries, however it doesn’t top the time Joel Zumaya injured himself playing Guitar Hero. Gotta be some real bad judgement or real bad luck falling through the roof of a barn. Though I assume if he’s got enough balls to be working on the roof of a barn that he has somewhat of an idea what he’s doing. So we’ll chalk this one up to bad luck.
