Scary moment at the Rays game tonight in Tampa as a Rays fan hit by a foul ball off the bat of Steven Souza Jr was taken away on a stretcher.
As you may recall, many parks have added the protective netting further down the lines as recommended by MLB’s safety measures. This fan was sitting in the 2nd row on the 1st base side of the plate, behind where the new extended protective netting was added at Tropicana.

Well I bet they didn’t think that small triangle opening would cause this just two weeks into the season. There’s no video of the fan being struck, but it was serious enough that Steven Souza Jr. who hit the ball took a trip into the stands to check on the fan. Classy move by Souza.
