29 AUG 2015: Boston Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts (50) after scoring during the game between the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox played at Citi Field in Flushing,NY. The Boston Red Sox defeat the New York Mets 3-1.

Mookie Betts has started the 2016 season with outstanding numbers.

The 23 year-old Mookie Betts is currently batting .283 with 65 hits, 12 homers, 40 RBI’s, and 49 runs scored. He has been Boston’s lead-off hitter for 52 games this season, and Boston is certainly having one hell of a start. The Sox currently lead the AL East by 3 games and have the best offensive numbers in baseball.

In Tuesday nights game against Baltimore, Mookie had a game to remember. In the top of the first inning, Betts hit a lead-off homer to give Boston the early lead over the O’s.

The very next inning, with two men on base, Betts delivered again.

And to top that off, Mookie went deep AGAIN in the seventh inning.

Not only was Mookie hot at the plate, but he made a spectacular catch in right field.

Mookie having a game like this actually didn’t surprise me. The way he has been playing is simply unreal. In my opinion, he deserves the starting spot in right field for the AL All-Star team. So far, the Sox have Bogaerts leading AL shortstops and Big Papi leading the DH spot. With Betts and JBJ playing as good as they are, we may see a lot more Boston jerseys on the diamond come July 12.
