Today on Colin Cowherd’s TV / Radio show on Fox Sports 1, former MLB great Lenny Dykstra dropped a bomb on everyone when telling stories out of his book. Dykstra admitted he spent half a million dollars, and hired private investigators to follow umpires that worked in baseball during his time.
“I need these umpires, so what do I do? I pulled out a half million bucks and hired a private investigation team. Their blood is just as red as ours. Some of them like women, some of them like men, some of them gamble…”
“It wasn’t a coincidence you think that I led the league in walks the next two years, was it?… I don’t think, I know.”
“I had to do what I had to do to win and support my family.”
This is INSANE. HAHA. Can you believe it? He had all this dirt on umpires and would literally turn around in the middle of an at bat after a strike call he didn’t like, and ask the umpire if he covered the spread last night. Once the umpire was done playing stupid and realized what he knew, the strike zone would drastically shrink. I’m having a hard time deciding if this is awesome or weird, creepy, and cheating. What do you think?
