Indians Yan Gomes Pop Time from His Knees

Cleveland Indians Yan Gomes has to be one of the most underrated defensive catchers in baseball, especially when it comes to throwing out base runners. His defensive metrics behind the plate including catcher’s ERA (CERA), caught stealing percentage (CS%), etc put him in the top 10 last year, a year in which he once again fought injury. He only started in 90 games last year, but his numbers are up there with the best of them.

In a Spring game, Yan Gomes pop time rang in at a 1.84, from his knees.

This wouldn’t even make the top of the highlight reel for Yan Gomes throwing out baserunners, though. Last season, he was clocked at a 1.68 throwing out Brett Gardner trying to swipe a bag in Cleveland.
