Jon Lester (DraftKings: $11,800, Fanduel: $11,000) – Lester’s allotted price has now reached an unprecedented level for the 2016 season. Despite the high-end price tag, this southpaw is worth paying up for. Lester draws a matchup against a struggling Padres offense that features the likes of Wil Myers, Matt Kemp, and Melvin Upton Jr. After Matt Harvey regained his pitching dominance this past Sunday against San Diego, it would certainly be no surprise to see Lester do the same and continue his successful 2016 campaign.
Brian McCann (DraftKings: $3,600, Fanduel: $3,100) – The catcher position is usually one of the weaker hitting positions in Major League Baseball. McCann is an exception to this belief and is a worthy play for just about any DFS lineup against the aging Chris Young. The right field seating area of Yankee Stadium just might be calling McCann’s name on Monday night.
Anthony Rizzo (DraftKings: $5,400, Fanduel: $4,900) – Rizzo has been an absolute battering ram in the middle of Joe Maddon’s lineup this season. Daily Fantasy Sports sites have put an elevated emphasis on home runs this season making Rizzo an elite play at a power position (10 home runs this season).
Derek Dietrich (DraftKings: $3,400, Fanduel: $2,700) – The price (sub $4,000) and matchup (vs. Wily Peralta) is too good to ignore in the case of Dee Gordon’s replacement: Derek Dietrich. You can expect this left-handed hitting second baseman to either leadoff or hit in the middle of an underrated Marlins lineup. If you need salary relief, this is a solid option.
Francisco Lindor (DraftKings: $3,600, Fanduel: $3,800) – In a showdown between two of the best shortstops in the Major Leagues, Lindor garners a spot as one of the top shortstop values on this 13-game slate. Right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers is going to have his hands full against an Indians lineup filled with lefties.
Jake Lamb (DraftKings: $4,000, Fanduel: $3,400) – Assuming he plays, Lamb deserves exposure at the hitter-friendly Coors Field. The third baseman draws a matchup against Tyler Chatwood, one of the biggest pitching surprises this season. If manager Chip Hale pencils Lamb into the number two slot of the Diamondbacks lineup, go ahead and ignore the success of Chatwood and take advantage of Coors Field/hitter’s paradise.
Colby Rasmus (DraftKings: $2,800, Fanduel: $3,000) – The value play of the day by a mile. Even though Corey Kluber has been lights out over his past two outings, Rasmus has a ridiculously low price for a cleanup hitter. If Kluber struggles, there will be numerous RBI opportunities for the Astros right fielder.
Carlos Gonzalez (DraftKings: $5,000, Fanduel: $3,900) – It seems obvious, but Carlos Gonzalez is in a great position tonight against the hard-throwing Ruby De La Rosa. The expensive price tag makes it difficult to afford pitchers like Lester and King Felix, but squeezing Gonzalez into one of the three outfield positions in your lineup could be the difference between cashing and getting shutout.
