David Ortiz Called His Shot for Young Sick Fan

I haven’t jumped around my living room like I did last night in a long, long time. David Ortiz came up HUGE against the Yankees last night, just like he has his entire career. His 2-run oppo-taco jack in the 8th, (how’s that for beating the shift, Girardi?) proved to be the game winning blow in the Red Sox and Yankees first matchup of 2016.

It get’s better. Ortiz and Kevin Millar sent this video to a sick kid before the game.

Papi came through on his promise. That’s some Babe Ruth shit right there. I know I was losing it when that ball cleared the monster, so I can’t even imagine what that kid Maverick was doing. What we do know, is that Maverick sent a video back to Ortiz.

Seed Sack

I watched that video right before going into work this morning, and I almost started crying. I can’t even begin to think about coping with the fact that Ortiz is retiring at the end of this year. Long Live David Ortiz.

P.S. Ortiz promised Millar’s kids that he would hit a home run last night, and hugged them right before going into the Sox dugout. The man is a living legend.
