Bowling Green Hot Rods to Host “Bootlegger Night”

What makes Minor League Baseball so great, besides the talent of the young players, is the crazy and unique themed nights at the ballpark. Some teams, such as the Bowling Green Hot Rods, go all out on these special nights.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods are a Class-A team for the Tampa Bay Rays hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky. In a nod to the city’s rich history in bourbon production, the team is hosting a “Bootlegger Night” on July 16th. The “Hot Rod” was a major key in helping bootleggers outrun law enforcement over a century ago. Kentucky currently houses over 35 distilleries so this tribute night is a great way to show some hometown pride.

The players will don customized hats and jerseys inspired by the iconic bourbon barrel. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game and the proceeds will be going to charity. Fans will be greeted at the gates with a special edition mason jar so that, they too, can be involved in the fun! Fans will also be able to purchase a limited edition hat as well as VIP ticket packages that include a bourbon tasting. You can purchase the hats here.

General Manager Eric Leach said, “This is going to be an awesome night to celebrate the great state of Kentucky. Out of those old bootlegging years, one of the most productive industries in our area was produced. We can’t wait to have some fun with some VIP tastings and raising money for a good cause to honor this tradition.”

Who knew history could be this cool? Like seriously how awesome are these jerseys?
