On Monday, August 22, 2016, Red Sox rookie Andrew Benintendi made what many are calling the “Catch of the Year”.

Not only was this catch hard to fathom, but it was a very important one. If that ball leaves the yard, it’s a 3-2 ballgame in the 8th. It also saved David Price’s shutout over eight innings, so he sure saved his ass.

Andrew Benintendi has been nothing but heroic in his first big-league season. Since being called up and making his debut earlier this month on August 2nd, Benintendi is hitting .306 in 62 AB’s with 19 hits, 5 doubles, a triple, and a home run. He’s also batted in 10 runs. Ever since he was drafted last year in the first round, seventh overall, all of Boston knew they were in for something special. Did we know he would get the call to the show the very next season? Not so much. But here he is, starting in LF for Boston nearly every game, and proving his worth.

You guys better keep an eye out for Andrew Benintendi. The kid can seriously compete, even at just 21 years of age.
